  • Will I receive a charitable donation receipt for my donation and if so, is there a minimum amount I have to donate to receive one?
Yes, a charitable receipt will be issued by the Ottawa Valley Community Foundation annually. Donations of $20 or more will be eligible for a charitable receipt.
  • What work is being done at the pool?
The project is to remove the pool’s existing walls and roof, then supply, replace, and install new walls and a roof. The existing column and beams are to remain but the work will include cleaning and repairing any corroded sections on those existing beams along with the reinstatement of the mechanical and electrical components.
  • When will the pool re-open?
Bel-Con Design Builders LTD. has been awarded the contract with an estimated timeline to complete the work sometime between late August and early September.
  • If the City of Pembroke has already committed to fixing the pool, why is there a need to fundraise?
The City of Pembroke has committed to repairing the current pool due to a pledge of support from The Friends of the Regional Pool and budget commitments from surrounding municipalities. The cost is estimated at $1.4 million dollars for currently identified urgent repairs. The pool will continue to require upkeep and repairs in order to remain functional in the immediate future and a plan must be put in place to replace the existing pool when it finally reaches the end of its lifespan.
  • Once I donate, where does my money go?
The money will be held in trust by the Ottawa Valley Community Foundation and all funds will be directed towards repairs that will allow the pool to reopen and continue to operate.
  • How can I help?

  • Why are we fixing the pool instead of building a new facility?
The process of building a new facility would likely take at least 5-10 years. The life of the current pool will be extended to allow time to plan for and build a new facility.
  • What will happen to the facility if a new pool is built?
The current plan is that the building can be repurposed into a community recreation facility.
  • I saw a banner on the City of Pembroke website for donations to pool fundraising. Is this connected to your group?
The Friends of the Regional Pool website and fundraising activities can be found at makeasplash.ca The City of Pembroke fundraising is separate from our group's initiative.
